Red Hat to compete Ubuntu in Desktop Market
Published by Jun | Filed under Linux, Red Hat, Ubuntu
Ubuntu Linux who is leading the linux desktop market will be challenge when Red Hat Global Desktop Linux will be available but not until September. In the Philippines where Ubuntu is the main choice of newbies and who wants to learn about linux because it’s really easy to setup compare to *bsd like Slackware Linux and other distro.
It’s nice to see Red Hat is now back aggressively to compete in personal computer market with Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Operating System but the it’s primary competitor will be Ubuntu Linux, a free version of the operating system.
The linux desktop is now moving to maturity stage where big companies are now supporting linux and drivers for hardwares are not a problem. Back in 1999 when i’m still learning Linux, yes my 1st Linux distro was Red Hat before i shifted now to Slackware. Those early days of linux hardware support was really a pain in the ass. Not all hardware has a linux drivers. I have to settle for native drivers and its not running on performance usually on video cards - that’s why theres not much of 3d games in Linux. I experience crashing my X-Windows and also linux has it’s blue screen-like moment.
Linux desktop toppling Microsoft Corp.’s Windows XP/Vista? Is it near?
For a teenager, his cell phones as well as his car audio is his claim to fame. As you grow older, you grow laptop oriented, passing from the age of pda. When older, even printers don’t excite you anymore.
